The Chinese EV-maker said it has achieved rapid mass production of the NIO EC6 despite the tough COVID-19 situation this year, which has severely impacted production and supply. According to the firm, the EC6 achieved mass production in just six months, the fastest record in its history, the company said. EC6 is NIO's third mass-produced battery-electric vehicle (BEV) model, launched on July 24, 2020. The company had already announced that the model would start delivering from this September with a base price of CNY 368,000 before subsidy. The new model benchmarks Tesla's Model Y, according to the company's founder and CEO, Li Bin. Li said at the 2019 NIO Day event, “There will be other equally good coupe SUVs (launched) next year, such as the Tesla Model Y. Allow us to maintain some market flexibility.”
