Financial Times reported on September 26 that the American government is planning to impose stricter sanctions on Chinese chipmaker SMIC (00981:HK, 688981:SH), the country's largest semiconductor manufacturer. The foundry's spokesperson said on September 27 that SMIC "has not received such notification," adding that it "only serves civilian and commercial end-users, and does not cooperate with military."
