The automaker’s Senior Vice President Lian Yubo revealed on October 28 that BYD is pre-researching the next generation of high-performance and high-safety pure electric platform. The new platform will apply a large number of innovative technologies to the upcoming electric automobiles. It will cost less to manufacture new models using the new platform and the vehicles will have a longer driving range per charge, he said. Automakers from Volkswagen to Geely have introduced vehicle underpinning platforms to develop new models more efficiently. The first models developed based on the new platform will be released at the Shanghai Auto Show next year.
