On January 15, Volkswagen announced that it will launch a new augmented reality head up display system, which will overlay specific logo symbols with the external environment to achieve dynamic display. This function will be first introduced in pure electric id.3 and id.4 models. Volkswagen has also become the first car manufacturer in the world to introduce this technology into compact models. Augmented reality head up display system can divide important information into two levels and project them into two fields of view on the windshield. The large dynamic display area is located in the driver's field of vision with a virtual distance of about 10 meters, which can provide a field of view with a diagonal length of about 1.8 meters. In this field of vision, information related to the driving aid system, as well as the start and destination identification of the steering arrow and navigation system will be displayed. The close range field of view is located in the horizontal belt area below the long range field of view, which can statically display information such as vehicle speed, road signs, driving AIDS and navigation symbols. The information looks like it's floating about 3 meters in front of the driver.
