With the agreement reached at the G7 summit, the Japanese government will stop new export support for coal-fired power generation in 2021. The G7 summit not only discussed export support for coal-fired power with more greenhouse gas emissions, but also discussed stopping the use of coal-fired power in China. In the context of Europe and the United States turning to renewable energy, Japan's response measures are not timely enough. As a domestic power source or a candidate for infrastructure export, Japan has not yet found a substitute for coal thermal power.
