The General Administration of Customs introduced at the press conference that the layout of China's ports was further optimized during the 13th Five Year Plan period. Coastal areas have basically formed large-scale, specialized and modern port gathering areas around the Bohai Sea, the Yangtze River Delta, the southeast coast, the Pearl River Delta and the southwest coast. The border areas have basically formed a port gathering belt open to Northeast Asia, Central Asia and Southeast Asia. During the 13th Five Year Plan period, 28 ports were newly opened and 38 ports were expanded. By the end of 2020, there were 313 ports open to the outside world approved by the State Council.
