Financial Associated Press, December 6 - the haploid breeding technology research team at home and abroad led by Professor Chen Shaojiang of China Agricultural University recently published the latest research results in the international well-known English journal plant biotechnology, which established the haploid induction system of tomato for the first time, It lays a foundation for establishing a general cross species haploid rapid breeding technology system for monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous crops. On the basis of cloning the key induction gene zmdmp of Maize Haploid, the research team found that zmdmp has an homologous gene in tomato. The results showed that sldmp gene mutation in tomato also had the ability of independent haploid induction. The results of high-throughput sequencing of the haploids produced by hybridization showed that these haploids did not carry the genome from the male parent, indicating that the sldmp mutant induced pure female haploids.
