Financial Associated Press, January 17 - BHP Billiton said on Monday that it would buy four battery powered electric trains to transport iron ore from its mines to ports in Western Australia. BHP Billiton also pointed out that the full transition to pure electric trains will reduce the diesel related carbon emissions of the company's iron ore in Western Australia by nearly 30% per year. Earlier, some mining companies also announced the purchase of electric trains in the past few weeks as part of their continued efforts towards a cleaner future.
