According to a paper recently published in the journal progress of science, researchers at the University of Adelaide in Australia and their overseas partners have taken a key step in making quantum batteries a reality. They successfully proved the concept of super absorption, which is the key idea supporting quantum battery. The researchers said that super absorption is a complex scientific theory applicable to quantum technology. It represents a quantum collective effect, and the transformation between molecular states will produce constructive interference. Constructive interference occurs in various waves (light, sound and water waves). When different waves add up to have a greater impact than any wave, super absorption will occur. Crucially, this allows the combined molecules to absorb light more effectively than each molecule acts alone. This means that the more molecules in the quantum energy storage device, that is, the larger the quantum battery, the higher its efficiency of absorbing energy and the faster its charging time.
