On January 26th local time, the WTO announced that China could impose tariffs on US $645 million worth of US imports every year. The trade dispute ruling began in 2012, when China sued the United States to the WTO for the United States' imposition of countervailing tariffs on Chinese products such as solar panels. Previously, the WTO had ruled that the relevant measures of the United States violated WTO regulations and were supported by the appellate body.
