On Tuesday (May 10) local time, German agricultural and pharmaceutical giant Bayer said that Ukrainian farmers had made better progress in preparing farmland than expected. Werner Baumann, chief executive of Bayer, said in a conference call after the financial report: "not only we, but all companies operating in the field of (Agriculture) investment are doing their best to ensure that they can supply (in Ukraine)." Bayer's main competitors in seeds and pesticides include corteva, Syngenta and BASF. Baumann added: "a considerable number of planting activities are already under way, and I think this is good news given the current situation."
