The International Fund for agricultural development (IFAD) said on the 16th that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has pushed food, fuel and fertilizer prices to record highs, putting food security in many countries at risk and affecting the lives of millions of people around the world. In response, IFAD launched an initiative to call on its member states to make substantial material contributions to the 22 countries listed in the initiative to alleviate the famine of the world's rural poor in the coming months and reduce the impact on future crop harvests.
