On the 16th local time, the European Commission issued emergency measures on the African pig plague in Italy, requiring that pigs and related products in the epidemic area be prohibited from being transported to Member States and other third countries. The ban will continue until August 31, 2022. The measures require Italy to immediately delimit the epidemic area of African classical swine fever infection cases, including many areas in the capital Rome. Recently, three cases of African swine fever infected wild boars were found in the suburbs of Rome, Italy. In order to eliminate the risk of CSFV transmission in Africa, the Italian Ministry of health and relevant areas invaded by wild boars are developing selective killing plans.
