Tencent-Backed Mininglamp Won a Chinese Top AI Award

Mininglamp (明略数据), an AI solution company based in Beijing, announced today it has won 2018 WU Wenjun AI Science & Technology Award.

Mininglamp (明略数据), an AI solution company based in Beijing, announced today it has won 2018 WU Wenjun AI Science & Technology Award, a top award aims to encourage theory research and commercial application of AI in China. WU Wenjun, who was a widely respected Chinese mathematician and academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), set up the award in 2011.

Mininglamp was founded by WU Minghui (吴明辉) in April 2014, the company has secured three rounds financing in the past three years, a total amount of financing surpassed CNY 1.2 billion, investors include Sequoia Capital China, Tencent, and China Renaissance. Now Mininglamp is a unicorn in China's AI area, with a valuation north of USD 1 billion

According to Mininglamp’s official information, the company provides AI services to clients including public security bureaus and financial organizations; Mininglamp claimed it can improve the public security industry's case clearance rate by 5-20%, and risk detection efficiency 3000 times in the financial industry. 

Mininglamp had more than CNY 200 million in operating revenue in 2017, and expect to reach more than CNY 500 million in 2018. As of November 2019, the company has about 400 employees.
