On May 21, at Qualcomm China Tech Day 2021, the CEO of Honor, Zhao Ming, confirmed Honor's strategic cooperation with Qualcomm, one of the largest chip manufacturers worldwide. Before this, Honor also revealed its renewed collaborations with AMD, Intel, Micron, Samsung, MTK and Microsoft. The cooperation with Qualcomm further shows that the brand’s relaunch is underway.

Honor used to be a middle-end smartphone brand under Huawei. Its smartphones were all armed with Huawei-Developed Kirin processors. Ever since Huawei was placed on the 'Entity List' of the US Commerce Department, it has experienced significant difficulty in continuing the operation of the hardware business. Therefore, Huawei sold Honor off in November 2020 to Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology Co., Ltd. The break-up with Huawei allows Honor to step away from the shadow of US sanctions.
