Micro UAV company HQ Innovation has recently completed a Pre-A round of financing of tens of millions of CNY, with Shenzhen Sunflower Investment as the investor. The financing funds will be mainly used to build new R&D and production bases, wind tunnel construction, team expansion, etc.

Despite the vast space, there is still a huge market gap in micro UAVs due to technology, cost and control issues. The company has launched the Hummingbird, an ultra-micro surveillance drone, targeting this market gap.

According to HQ Innovation's founder and CEO, Chen Hongqiang, unlike Black Hornet, Hummingbird can achieve cluster reconnaissance with a swarm of 15 aircraft and has functions such as optical flow positioning and four-way LIDAR obstacle avoidance. As the eyes of a single soldier, the Hummingbird UAV is equipped with four cameras and sensing equipment such as miniature TOF LIDAR, which can achieve detection and autonomous obstacle avoidance functions.

Making drones smaller is the opposite of consumer or industry-grade drones on the market. Unlike the modular design idea, miniaturizing drones is about achieving a high level of integration.

This company's competitors include DJI and SMD.
