Facebook's Instagram provides rewards to TikTok creators with millions of followers to attract them to use Reels, marking the escalation in the battle between social media giants.
Reels is a function of Instagram, which allows users to share short videos like TikTok. Instagram plans to launch Reels in the United States and several other countries next month. It is being tested in India, Brazil, France and Germany. An important difference is that Reels’ short videos are limited to 15 seconds, while TikTok’s are 60 seconds.
Company representative Sarissa Thrower said that Instagram has reached out to different content creators in several countries where the Reels service is being tested. "We remain committed to investing in our creators and their experience."
In April this year, TikTok surpassed Instagram with 2 billion global downloads, posing a significant challenge to Facebook. This app has a massive appeal to young users.
