According to 36Kr, Volkswagen Mobility and the autonomous driving startup AutoX announced a strategic cooperation in the Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone in Jiading, Shanghai. They plan to form a large-scale fleet of autonomous driving across the country and launch an autonomous driving travel platform for the Chinese market. Volkswagen Travel will provide traffic portals for the fleet, and AutoX will provide a technology platform.

Volkswagen Travel is a mobile Internet travel platform owned by Volkswagen Transportation (Group). It is headquartered in Shanghai. It went online in March 2016 and obtained the first online car-hailing license in Shanghai.

It provides taxis, private cars, state-owned cars, government and enterprise vehicles, etc. Currently, Volkswagen Travel has been operating in 18 cities across the country, including Shanghai, Shaoxing, Hangzhou, Suzhou, and Tianjin. Through self-developed smart rearview mirror systems and other terminal equipment, big data analysis and professional service management can be realized, and the goal is to make smart cars and smart travel platform.
