AutoX is the first and currently the only company in China operating a fully driverless RoboTaxi service on public roads without safety drivers.
AutoX
On November 16, AutoX announced the completion of China's largest fully driverless RoboTaxi service area. It covers 168 square kilometers in the Pingshan District of China's leading tech hub, Shenzhen. As early as January 2021, AutoX has launched the world's second and China's first fully driverless RoboTaxi service that is open to the public.
In tandem with the announcement, AutoX released a new video of its driverless RoboTaxi navigating the expanded service area – swiftly driving through the commercial center of Shenzhen, arriving at its high-speed train station, and pulling up to the curb in front of a long line of parked vehicles dropping off passengers.
AutoX's technical capabilities and operational capabilities have been proven this year since it launched its driverless operation in Shenzhen. On November 5, AutoX was invited to sign a separate contract and give a keynote speech as the major industrial project at the 2021 Shenzhen Pingshan Merchants Conference on the theme of 'Innovation Pingshan, City of the Future'.
The prototype car model for the RoboTaxi was the Chrysler Grand Geelong. Relying on the AutoX Gen5 system, AutoX was equipped with 28 8-megapixel vehicle-class cameras, 4D mmWave radar, self-researching core computing platform and autopilot electronics and electrical architecture AutoX XCU, with a computing power of 2200TOPS.
Over the past 1.5 years of driveless testing and operations, AutoX has maintained a zero-incident safety record, safely carrying the country's first passengers in fully driverless cars. Up to now, AutoX has already deployed hundreds of RoboTaxis in Shenzhen, Shanghai, and many other cities in China.
It is reported that AutoX continues to increase the recruitment of scientific research personnel to accelerate the advent of fully driverless cars; the relevant research and development team is expected to exceed 1,000 members this year.
