China’s top IT and cloud computing service provider Inspur Information (000977.SZ) recently launched MetaEngine, a Metaverse server used for real-time rendering of digital twin scenes, rapid generation of digital humans, and high-precision simulation following the laws of physics.

MetaEngine will be supplied, installed and delivered in April 2022.

MetaEngine supports NVIDIA A40 GPU and ConnectX-6 Dx Smart NIC. The former is used for professional visual computing purposes and the latter can greatly improve network throughput. On the software side, MetaEngine also supports Omniverse, the latest 3D collaborative work platform released by NVIDIA.

MetaEngine can provide strong computing power for the creation and operation of metaverse. A single MetaEngine can support the collaborative creation of 256 Metaverse architects, enabling up to 1,000 VR/AR users to share a smooth experience of the 10K ultra-high-definition 3D digital world.

Inspur's official website shows that its servers are divided into general-purpose servers, AI servers, and edge servers according to application scenarios. Among them, AI server is a new category born with the rise of AI technology and has won recognition by the market.

According to the “Semiannual Follow-up Report on Global Artificial Intelligence Market” released by the data service provider IDC in the first half of 2021, in the AI server market, Inspur Information ranked first with a market share of 20.2%.

However, unlike AI, Metaverse is an emerging concept, and the market's perceptions of its applications still vary. Experts pointed out that  Metaverse servers need to be differentiated to become a new type of server approved by the market since existing GPU servers support metaverse applications including digital twins, cloud games, and 3D collaborative work.

According to a report released by IDC on the global server market in 2021, the top three firms by  global server shipments are Dell, Inspur, and HPE. For Inspur Information, releasing a Metaverse server is conducive to further consolidating its position in the server market.

Inspur Information closed 2.29% lower at CNY27.36 apiece Tuesday on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, with a market cap of CNY39.774 billion.
