Auto Maker BYD wins first prize in global sales, and XPENG enters the global TOP20 for the first time

Chinese auto manufacturers scored remarkably during the first half of 2022, BYD ranked first with sales of 130,000 units, while XPENG was listed on the sales of Top 20.
According to the global ranking of the first five months, BYD and Tesla secured the first and the second spot, the sales of which were far beyond other automakers.
On the world NEV sales ranking list, BMW, Volkswagen, and Mercedes ranked fourth, fifth and sixth respectively, with sales of more than 100,000 units, it indicated that among all the traditional auto companies, the transformation of German automakers is on time.
BYD topped the list with more than 130,000 units and surpassed Tesla by 100,000 units in the first five months of this year.
The sales of most automakers in June achieved year-on-year growth of more than 100%, and the accumulated sales of the first half of the year also reached an increase of more than 100% except NIO (Chinese:蔚来汽车).
Among the Top 20 vehicle models, Model Y of Tesla topped the list with sales of more than 200,000 units, and 14 vehicle models were from Chinese brands, including six from BYD.
2022 was a challenging year for Chinese automakers, but it was also a year of explosive growth in the NEV market. According to public information, due to the Zero Covid-19 policy and lack of chips, the government and auto companies issued a variety of market rescue policies, the NEV market performed better than expected.
