GPGPU is the future infrastructure for the next-generation computing power in China, and an integral part of building smart cities. With the development of 5G technology, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data and IoT, the demand for advanced computing power will soar.
On 13 July, Iluvatar CoreX (Chinese: 天数智芯), a developer of high-performance computing solutions, unveiled that it attained over CNY 1 billion in Series C+ and Series C++. Series C was led by Beijing Financial Street Capital(Chinese: 金融街资本), while Series C+ by Houpu Investment(Chinese: 厚朴投资) and Houan Innovation Fund(Chinese: 厚安创新基金).
Other investors that participated in the financing include Shanghai Guosheng Group(Chinese: 上海国盛), Vista Investment(Chinese: 熙诚致远), Xinxing Asset(Chinese: 新兴资产) and Ding Xiang Capital(Chinese: 鼎祥资本).
The proceeds will be used to facilitate the mass-produce of AI inference chip Zhikai 100(Chinese: 智铠100), develop the second and third generation of AI training chips Tiangai 200 and 300(Chinese: 天垓200及300), expand its software platform, accelerate the integration of AI and graphics, and provide strong computing power for computing infrastructure and digital society.
Lin Sihan(Chinese: 林思汉), managing director of Houan Innovation Fund, claimed that GPU is the key element in driving the development of computing power. Iluvatar CoreX enjoys rich industry know-how and has successfully achieved commercialization. It’s expected to empower industrial development and promote the intelligent transformation of various industries.
In December 2020, Iluvatar CoreX issued Tiangai100, the first homemade GPGPU and by the end of March 2022, it has achieved sales of nearly CNY 200 million and assisted customers in more than 200 application scenarios.
The company’s competitors include Vastai Technologies(Chinese: 瀚博半导体), Eta Semiconductor(Chinese: 钰泰半导体), Cambricon Technologies(Chinese: 寒武纪) and Actions(Chinese: 炬芯科技).
