Dongfeng Motor Corporation and China Electronics Corporation recently reached an agreement to form a strategic alliance in automotive chips and other automobile-related fields.
Dongfeng Motor Corporation (DFMC) (Chinese: 东风公司) and China Electronics Corporation (CEC)(Chinese: 中国电子) have reached strategic cooperation on automotive chips, cybersecurity and digitization, and automobile electronics. Two parties will jointly accelerate the project implementation of semiconductor products and core supporting software in the automotive chip segment, news portal Autohome Inc reported.
DFMC, a state-owned automobile enterprise, was established in Shiyan, Hubei Province, in 1969. DFMC is one of China's largest auto groups which covers a wide range of commercial vehicles and auto-related businesses. CEC is China's largest state-owned comprehensive electronic information enterprise group.
Leveraging their existing joint laboratory platform, the two partners will continue to strengthen their collaborative efforts on chip reliability and failure analysis, further supporting the Research and Development (R&D) of key chips based on the product planning of both sides.
Meanwhile, CEC will provide automotive chip supply chain services for DFMC. Respecting network security and digitization, the two parties will jointly launch demonstration projects of domestically-made hardware and software products. Moreover, CEC will offer technical support such as network security supervision and equipment security diagnostic evaluation for DFMC, building a talent reserve for network security.
According to the digital transformation requirements for state-owned enterprises, two companies will cooperate in the business centre, data centre, and cloud platform. Additionally, the two parties will also collaboratively launch automotive systems and application solutions based on autonomous and controllable software and hardware systems regarding automotive electronics.
This strategic cooperation between DFMC and CMC will further maximize the strategic synergy of state-owned enterprises and provide strength to promote the development of the automotive industry.
