At the 2022 World New Energy Vehicle Conference (WNEVC 2022), the intelligent cockpit-driving integration attracted a great deal of attention. China’s Tech giant Baidu, for example, planned to roll out the "robot" concept vehicle to better meet users’ needs for intelligent travel, including in-car intelligence assistance and intelligent cabin in the new era.

The company revealed that the “robot” car would feature a powerful intelligent cockpit, a highly autonomous driving system, and a wide range of application scenarios.

Widely recognized as China’s largest search engine, Baidu has stepped up the pace of developing autonomous driving-related businesses by leveraging its strengths in artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud services.

Baidu launched its R&D Intelligent Driving Group (IDG) in 2013, which focuses on three main business lines, namely autonomous ride-hailing service platform (Apollo Go), smart self-driving unit (ASD), and smart transportation engine (ACE).

Cockpit-driving integration is an important trend that many OEMs and Tier suppliers pursue. Baidu has embarked on R&D on vehicle-cloud integrated multi-domain central computing platforms. It will launch a next-generation intelligent cockpit Apollo Robo-Cabin that features software-hardware integration.

Besides, during Baidu World 2022 technology conference in July, Baidu unveiled its six-generation fully autonomous vehicle, the Apollo RT6. It aims to deploy nearly 10,000 RTG EVs into trail operation on the Apollo GO robotaxi network in the second half of 2023.
