This globally recognized event, the first of its kind in China since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, attracted numerous exhibitors and domestic and international attendees amid the fervor surrounding the latest wave of artificial intelligence. EqualOcean visited the Shanghai Expo Exhibition Center to explore and engage with participating companies, aiming to discover the latest advancements in AI applications.

General Artificial Intelligence Deployed on Humanoid Robots

With the emergence of ChatGPT, a new wave of artificial intelligence has surged. Throughout this process, the concepts of Large Language Models (LLMs) and General Artificial Intelligence (AGI) have been repeatedly discussed. While people marvel at the powerful capabilities of ChatGPT, concerns about its commercial implementation persist. EqualOcean's previous interactions with staff from the Shanghai Institute of Artificial Intelligence revealed that the commercial deployment of large models and general AI is most likely to be realized in the field of robotics.

During the exhibition on July 6, we witnessed the deployment of General Artificial Intelligence robots represented by Datho Robots. It was reported that in 2022, Dataa Robots introduced HARIX OS (HAI Rui Operating System), connecting the general AI platform, robot cloud brain, and robot body. The popularity of large models undoubtedly added fuel to similar robotic enterprises. EqualOcean observed that the demonstrations of humanoid robots attracted audiences of various age groups. With the empowerment of artificial intelligence, EqualOcean believes that the future development of robots will integrate into mainstream daily life.

Combining Artificial Intelligence with Energy Storage: A Fusion of Two Promising Tracks

When discussing technological innovation in 2023, artificial intelligence cannot be overlooked, and energy storage is also an unavoidable hot topic in advanced manufacturing. EqualOcean noticed a mobile charging company named DHForce among the incubated enterprises in HongShan Capital. The showcased mobile charging robot, resembling the helmet of a black warrior from "Star Wars," has already been implemented at the K11 shopping mall in Shanghai.

According to the DHForce team, charging piles are indispensable in supporting new energy vehicles. Traditional charging equipment often faced the problem of low turnover rate due to vehicles being left idle after being fully charged. The company's mobile charging robot has changed the paradigm from "vehicle searching for charging piles" to "piles searching for vehicles," thus improving the efficiency of charging. This product not only enhances turnover efficiency in shopping mall parking lots but also solves the issue of inadequate charging piles in many older residential communities.

The mobile charging robot is working

EqualOcean witnessed a demonstration of the mobile charging robot, where charging was initiated by scanning a QR code. The robot autonomously located the vehicle, slowing down and changing direction when it detected someone nearby until accurately identified the charging port of the vehicle. It was reported that the robot has achieved full automation.

The Metaverse Persists Amidst the Realm of Artificial Intelligence

"Hi, what's your name?" "My name is JING!" "How tall are you?" "I am 176 centimeters tall." This was a brief conversation between EqualOcean journalist and the virtual person JING developed by Xmov Technology. It is understood that this hyper-realistic virtual character can quickly comprehend human dialogue and engage in uninterrupted communication with real individuals around the clock.

Leveraging the development of artificial intelligence, metaverse technology has already found numerous applications. In the booming live streaming field, virtual broadcasters have replaced traditional human hosts, enabling live broadcasts anytime, anywhere. AIGC combined with voice technology can generate diverse videos in various applications. The company Chumen Wenwen also showcased its company-developed virtual humans at this exhibition, attracting a significant crowd of onlookers.

Impressive Achievements by Autonomous Driving Companies in Overseas Expansion

The autonomous driving sector empowered by artificial intelligence has been flourishing, and it has also shown remarkable results among companies expanding their presence overseas.

EqualOcean observed on-site that both Autowise.ai, primarily focusing on autonomous sweeping vehicles, and Tusimple, a renowned company in autonomous trucking, had set up booths at the exhibition. It is known that Autowise.ai has established its products in Europe and the Middle East, while Tusimple was one of the early entrants into the US autonomous driving market.

Intense Competition in the Large Language Models Field

The Large Language Models of internet technology companies, such as Baidu's Wenxin Model, Alibaba's Tongyi Model, and Huawei's Pangu Model, were all showcased at the exhibition, allowing visitors to experience them firsthand. In addition to the general models, specialized models in industries have entered the market, drawing increasing commercial attention. For instance, SoundAI's AzeroGPT, which is now offering secure private deployment for industry users, signifies the beginning of model development tailored to specific sectors and is expected to garner further business interest in the future.

In addition to the rivalry among models, EqualOcean noted the participation of numerous semiconductor hardware companies in this exhibition. As the foundational computing devices, the chip industry plays an equally important role in the further development of artificial intelligence, almost akin to the "oil" of the AI era. Chinese companies currently face a bottleneck issue in this field. The resolution of this problem will be crucial for the substantial growth of China's artificial intelligence sector.
