The industrial Internet is a new type of infrastructure, application model, and industrial ecology that is deeply integrated with the new generation of information and communication technologies represented by 5G, AI, IoT, and big data. It is closely related to industrial digitalization, and manufacturing transformation and upgrading.
1
The industrial Internet is considered to be an important cornerstone of the fourth industrial revolution. It has been highly valued by society and has been included in the Government Work Report for six consecutive years.
In December 2020, the Industrial Internet Special Panel issued the Industrial Internet Innovation and Development Action Plan (2021-2023), which focused on five aspects including infrastructure, integrated applications, technological innovation, industrial ecology, and security, and formulated eleven key actions and ten key projects.
The three-year period is about to expire. The current industry scale of the industrial internet has exceeded CNY 1.2 trillion, and industry applications have expanded to 45 national economic categories. Industrial Internet has become a key support for China's digital transformation and high-quality economic and social development. According to IDC's forecast, by 2025, China's industrial Internet platform and application solution market will reach USD 5.61 billion (about CNY 36.16 billion), with an average compound growth rate of 29.6% from 2021 to 2025, entering a period of rapid development.
At the same time, a group of industrial Internet companies has gone overseas by relying on self-developed technological breakthroughs and industry data accumulation, becoming an important part of the output of Chinese manufacturing companies' capabilities and the development of target market industries. Facing a broader world, China's industrial Internet companies not only have the advantage of relying on the strong foundation of Chinese manufacturing but also face the challenge of lack of brand awareness and difficulty entering the supplier system of leading manufacturing companies. Checking the practices of pioneers going overseas will help us clarify the key elements of building an international industrial Internet brand, so as to help more relevant companies find their positions and broaden their horizons.
