Data Center

On February 19, Alibaba Cloud announced the official launch of its data center in Mexico, marking the first such facility in the Latin American region. It is reported that the first batch of products launched at this data center not only cover core cloud computing capabilities such as elastic computing, cloud storage, network services, and container technology, but also offer core product prices lower than those of other major international cloud providers, aiming to provide world-class products and services to Chinese enterprises overseas and local customers.

In 2022, Alibaba Cloud established a customer service center in Mexico City for the first time, providing team support to local customers. Over the years, Alibaba Cloud has built a solid foundation in serving local customers in Latin America, covering industries such as communications, technology, and retail. Yuan Qian, Vice President of Alibaba Group and President of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence International, pointed out that Mexico, as one of the leaders in the digital economy in Latin America, has an internet penetration rate of over 70%, and the number of start-ups has increased by 35% in the past five years. In the future, Alibaba Cloud will continue to increase investment in the construction of the ecosystem and service system in the Latin American market.

Alibaba Cloud began its international expansion in 2014, successively building data centers and opening availability zones in various regions around the world, including Asia, Europe, and North America. In May 2024, Alibaba Cloud announced plans to invest in the construction of new data centers in five countries globally, namely South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Mexico. The new overseas infrastructure will focus on the layout of AI infrastructure, aiming for a larger-scale global expansion. At present, Alibaba Cloud operates 87 availability zones in 29 regions worldwide.
