Geely has started to operate its first battery swap station in Jinan, Shandong Province, on October 18. It is its second station in China, with the first one having started to operate in Chongqing on September 16.

The new battery swap station has 39 charging positions and handles about 126 m^2. The station can support nearly 1000 battery swaps every day. It takes 90 seconds to finish a battery swap and the users do not need to get out of their vehicles during the process.

Battery swapping has become the new battlefield of the electronic vehicle industry. NIO and BAIC BJEV are the two leading players now. BAIC BJEV has built 160 battery swap stations to coordinate with its new energy taxi service, which has 15,000 electric vehicles. NIO has finished 133 battery swap stations, aiming to highlight its ‘BAAS’ mode. NIO has provided more than 500,000 battery swap services for its users.
