The World innovators Meet embarked on this journey five years ago in Beijing, the city where business, technology, and academic research converge. In 2020, WIM will include new international chapters that will allow us to catch the latest trends in exciting markets and discover the interconnections that exist between global innovators and the technological ecosystem in China.

WIM2020 Opens Technology and Innovation to the world

On December 9-11, 2020, EqualOcean will host this year's World Innovators Meet (WIM). WIM2020 will take on a bolder stance and adopt a more global outlook by taking the form of an online conference that will be streamed simultaneously in all countries and regions that champion the realm of technology and innovation.

During the World Innovators Meet, the WIM Committee will release the annual blockbuster WIA list, the World Innovation Awards, based on our annual industry and investment research findings, together with a series of research reports.

The World innovators Meet embarked on this journey five years ago in Beijing, the city where business, technology, and academic research converge. That year, EqualOcean arranged the Innovators Annual Conference & Awards Ceremony to recognize the most innovative enterprises in the technology ecosystem of China. The central topic of this meeting was the Internet+, an official program that sought the integration of diverse industries relevant to an era of connectivity. Along with this, EO celebrated the beginning of the digital economy and attracted the attention of hundreds of investors interested in innovation trends in China.

The company kept hosting up the Annual Conferences and Award Ceremonies. The memorable event welcomed thousands of leaders, over 300 outstanding speakers, and more than 20000 curious innovators, all motivated to discuss the most exciting trends of business and technology, in China and across the planet. Previous editions were at the forefront of the latest trends and milestones that influenced the emergence of new startups and actors involved in the sector. The company included consistent themes including the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Bog Data- all developments crucial to understanding the growth of China as an innovation hub.

The evolution of conference events has gone hand-in-hand with the influence of new global innovation trends. In 2019, EqualOcean arranged for the first time the World innovator Meet (WIM) that aimed to extend its influence on a global scale. For three days, WIM attracted more than 5000 attendees and counted with 200 global speakers and 180 investors, all met in the same place to share their knowledge and expertise, learn the digital trends, and discuss the impact of recent developments in tech fields. The incredible success of WIM2019 was the window to expand the knowledge and take a global outlook, to invite recognized tech leaders in the industry and reach more countries and regions.

In 2020, as humanity is facing one the most uncertain times and global markets are struggling due to the pandemic, it is innovation and technology that are leading the way to solutions. In this context, WIM2020 will take on a bolder stance and adopt a more global outlook to reach all corners of the world through virtual conferences. Furthermore, this edition will include new international chapters that will allow us to catch the latest trends in exciting markets and discover the interconnections that exist between global innovators and the technological ecosystem in China. WIM welcomes to the new chapters of North America, Africa, and Europe, each of which will bring influential entrepreneurs and thought leaders from various sectors.

North America Chapter

For several years the North American tech industry has been recognized for its extraordinary efforts and outcomes in terms of innovation, entrepreneurship, and accelerated growth. Most of the trends in technological developments come from this region, which has managed to extend influence in every direction. The active participation of startups, investors, incubators, accelerators, and organizations has promoted new and disruptive business models. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to this hub and to be aware of the next set of changes. The North America Chapter edition will involve entrepreneurs, innovators, and academics who will share their practical knowledge in assorted fields of the industry.

For more than four hours, speakers including Professor Rajkumar Venkatesan, Ronald Trzcinsiski professor at Darden School of Business, University of Virginia, will talk about the influence of Artificial Intelligence in Marketing strategies and the different methods of Marketing analytics. Also, we will have the participation of Rebecca Pang, VP of commercial services, Diversified Asian Markets at RBC who will share with the audience some insights about the transformation of businesses in times of crisis. Additionally, Jesse Horwitz, Co-Founder and CEO at Hubble Contacts, recognized by Forbes as one of the most influential entrepreneurs in the 30 Under 30 group, will share his insights on the disruption of e-commerce and new consumption in this era. As well, this session will have a space dedicated to the role of actors in the entrepreneurship ecosystem in North America and Asia, accompanied by executives from Chinaaccelerator, Plug & Play, and Shenzhen Open Innovation Lab.

This chapter will be hosted next December 9th from 4:00 pm to 7:20 pm (UTC-5).

African Chapter

Africa's tech ecosystem has seen astonishing growth in recent years. This is largely due to the arrival of capital and investment in small and medium-sized companies, as well as financial development at the corporate level and widespread innovation responding to diverse need and demands.  The support that entrepreneurs have received in the region has promoted the creation of different innovation centers such as incubators, technology parks, and accelerators focused on offering funding and training programs. Additionally, international institutions have supported this market with large amounts of money to promote the growth of SMEs and the digital ecosystem. During the WIM2020 session, renowned speakers will engage in conversation with the public about the trajectory and programs they are developing across the continent.

Among the esteemed guest speakers, the African chapter boasts an exceptional list of experts in the area. Some of them, such as Bakko Ambianda, chairman and CEO of Labacorp Group will share his wealth of knowledge on the solar Power Technology Revolution, given his valuable contributions in the area of energy and technology in the region. Another of the speaker will be Salum Awadh, CEO of SSC Capital, who will address the different ways to finance Innovation. In another session, there will be one of the most interesting panels in this edition of WIM2020 will look at how African tech change-makers will shape the continent’s future. Moderated by Luuk Aliens, Chief Commercial Officer at Xnode, it will see panelists like Murendeni Mafumo, Founder of Kusini Water, South Africa, Okey Esse, Founder & CEO of Powerstove Energy, Nigeria and Roy Njoka, Co-Founder of Digiduka, Kenya.

WIM2020 is a great opportunity to learn more about this ecosystem and identify the options that investors have in Africa. This chapter will be held on December 9 from 4:00 pm to 7:10 pm (UTC+3).

 Europe Chapter

Regarding the European technology scene, it is evident that most of the countries from this continent are home to renowned companies, unicorns and startups. The diversity of the region has greatly contributed to innovation, program development, and the creation of institutions that support actors in the digital economy. The latter is considered as an engine of the continent’s economy; hence it is common to find mature startups with higher capitalization lines. This is why Europe is considered a benchmark for other ecosystems. Also, it might be mentioned that the program Industries 4.0, created in Germany, inspired the technological transformation of China and its determination to classify Innovation as a priority to promote entrepreneurship in the country. Therefore, at WIM2020, experts, founders, academics and investors will be communicating to the world what are the advantages of the region as a leader in technology.

The Europe chapter will be full of heroic leaders who have expertise and knowledge in most of the areas that embrace technology and innovation. WIM2020 has the honor of presenting inspiring entrepreneurs such as Ludovic Bodin, co-founder and president of La French Tech Beijing, who will discuss the success of the Gaming Industry and how to apply their principles and models to other businesses. In the same chapter, we will be pleased to introduce Marc Zornes, founder, and CEO of Winnow. He will be sharing with the audience how Artificial Intelligence can help solve the national food waste problem. Likewise, Niklas Östberg co-founder and CEO of Delivery Hero, a multinational online food-delivery service based in Berlin, is going to share the key trends in delivery for the upcoming year, while giving insights into the core strategies of his company. The list of guest speakers is extensive. Here we find nourishing content for curious minds, covering topics like fintech, gaming, AI and the startup ecosystem among others.

The Europe chapter is going to be held on December 9th. If the audience in Europe wants to attend consider the time zone GMT+0, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, or GMT+1, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

There is no doubt that WIM2020 is a world-class event for innovators that will provide limitless opportunities to learn from the most inspiring experts. For more than 10 hours, the world and all its regions will be connected through entrepreneurship and innovation. More than 30 speakers will bring light to each other with insightful conversations, letting the audience explore the advantages, disruptions, and new technologies that are guiding the future of the world.
