Epidemic control forced many new energy vehicle industry chain suppliers to suspend production. NIO and other vehicle manufacturers have felt the heat as well, as they announced temporary halts to production.

Due to the ongoing epidemic outbreak, EV maker NIO's supply chain partners in Jilin, Shanghai, Jiangsu and other places across China have suspended production.
The disruption to its supply chains has prompted NIO to also stop vehicle production, suggesting that many NIO users will likely face late delivery.
NIO recently released delivery numbers for March and the first quarter of this year. In March, NIO delivered 9,985 cars, up 37.6 percent year on year. In the first quarter, it delivered 25,800 new cars, an increase of 28.5% from the same period last year. To date, NIO’s cumulative delivery volume is 192,800 units.
It is reported that NIO was expected to gradually increase the delivery of its flagship sedan ET7 in the second and third quarters. In addition, it will release the 2022 editions of its ES8, ES6 and EC6 models, as well as the large-sized five-seat SUV ES7 in late May to rival BMW’s X5L.
Against this backdrop, the sudden suspension of production may have a certain impact on NIO's delivery in the next few months.
Not only NIO is affected by the surge of Covid-19 in Shanghai and other localities across China. Many auto companies have announced similar production halts since late March. Volkswagen's Changchun plant in China was closed until April 5, while its Shanghai plant ceased production from April 1 to 5, a Volkswagen Group spokesman said earlier.
Tesla's Gigafactory in Shanghai has also been suspended due to COVID-19 control measures. Tesla said earlier that it would halt production at its Shanghai plant on March 28. Prior to this, Tesla Shanghai had been suspended for two consecutive days on March 16 and 17 due to epidemic prevention.
