Photonic(Chinese:光梓科技), an optoelectronic Integrated Circuit(IC) chip designer, raised tens of millions from Series C1 financing round, led by Broadstream Capital, with participation by ICY Capital and Walden International.
Photonic is a high-tech company with a long history of developing and industrializing integrated circuits and systems for applications in markets such as 5G wireless transmission, data centers, 3D sensing, and Laser Radar(LIDAR).
The money will be mainly used for product development investment and company operation.
Qi Xin, the board secretary of Photonic, said that Photonic will continue to increase its investment in research and development(R&D) of new products and technologies, especially on high-speed rate and high-quality optoelectronic integrated chip products that dovetail with the world's advanced level. In addition, the company will further grow its R&D, manufacturing, operations, and marketing teams, and expand its R&D and operation centers."
Optical integration technology is constantly developing. With the explosion of big data applications, people's requirements for data acquisition, transmission, processing and storage have increased. Faster optical chips will have a more significant role in the future, which can solve the problems of optical communication, high energy consumption of big data centers, and limited data transmission speed.
Photonic has two major product lines, high-speed optical transmission and high-speed optical communication. Regarding the business model, Photonic will supply products directly to end customers and access end products through suppliers.
Photonic's international competitors include AMD(US) and Ambiq Micro(US), and domestic ones include Fudan Micro(01385.HK, Chinese:上海复旦),3Peak(688536.SH, Chinese:思瑞浦), and National Chip(688262.SH, Chinese:国芯科技).
