Domestic agricultural drone market is tending to saturate, and industry giants begin to focus on overseas markets

On March 14, Peng Bin, the founder of XAG which is a Chinese agricultural technology company, said that in recent years, XAG's overseas business has been doubling every year. In 2024, the revenue proportion of XAG's overseas business has risen to between 30% and 35%. He predicts that by 2027, the company's overseas market scale may exceed that of the domestic market

Founded in 2007, XAG is a company with the mission of "improving agricultural production efficiency" and is committed to empowering agriculture with robotics, artificial intelligence, and new energy technologies. In the "2024 Global Unicorn List", XAG ranks 1,118th with a valuation of USD 7.1 billion (CNY 51.4 billion).

XAG's Super Rice Field in Guangzhou has reduced the overall cost per acre by 12.1% in the past year through the fully "unmanned" rice planting model, and the cost per mu in the sowing stage has decreased by 45.65%. XAG's Super Cotton Field is China's first unmanned cotton farm project, managed by two post-90s individuals using high-tech means such as robotics and artificial intelligence to manage 3,000 mu of high-standard cotton fields. The Super Cotton Field has verified the feasibility of applying the unmanned management model to large-scale cotton planting, providing a successful sample for large-scale farmers to refer to and replicate.

Facing the global industrial upgrading, XAG is actively expanding into international markets. Its products have been sold to multiple countries and regions, and it has cooperated with multiple international organizations. According to World Bank, the proportion of agricultural practitioners in Vietnam has decreased from around 49% in 2010 to 36% in 2020, and the price of hiring agricultural workers has increased by up to 40%. According to feedback from local users, compared with traditional planting models, one XAG agricultural drone can replace at least 60 manual workers, greatly improving the efficiency of pesticide spraying.
