On the evening of December 26, Sunwoda (欣旺达) disclosed in a filing that its wholly owned subsidiary, Sunwoda Power Technology Co., Ltd. (欣旺达动力科技股份有限公司), has been sued by VREMT Electric Vehicle Technology (Ningbo) Co., Ltd. (威睿电动汽车技术(宁波)有限公司) over a sales contract dispute, with the amount in dispute reaching RMB 2.314 billion.

According to the announcement, the case has been formally accepted by the Ningbo Intermediate People’s Court of Zhejiang Province under case number (2025) Zhe 02 Min Chu 1870, and has not yet gone to trial.
The plaintiff alleges that battery cells delivered by Sunwoda Power between June 2021 and December 2023 suffered from serious quality issues, resulting in significant economic losses. The claims include compensation for losses, as well as the payment of appraisal fees, legal fees and all litigation costs.
Regarding the potential impact, Sunwoda (欣旺达) said in the filing that, as of the disclosure date, the company and its subsidiaries included in the consolidated financial statements are operating normally. As the case has not yet been heard, the outcome remains uncertain and the impact on the company’s current or future profits cannot yet be assessed. The company said it will conduct appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with accounting standards based on the progress of the case, with the final impact on profits subject to auditor confirmation.
According to its official website, Sunwoda Power is a comprehensive new energy technology company integrating the research, production and sales of battery cells, modules, battery management systems (BMS) and battery packs (PACK), and focuses on providing application-oriented power battery and energy storage solutions.
Information on the official website shows that VREMT was established in 2013 and specialises in the research, manufacturing, sales and after-sales services of new energy vehicle power batteries, electric drive systems, charging systems and energy storage systems. Tianyancha data show that VREMT is jointly owned by Zeekr Automobile (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (极氪汽车(上海)有限公司) and Geely Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (吉利汽车集团有限公司), with shareholding ratios of 51% and 49%, respectively.
