Sungrow(阳光电源)has signed a framework agreement to supply 1 GWh of battery energy storage systems to Germany’s GOLDBECK SOLAR, while also securing an inverter supply role for a 722 MWp utility-scale solar project in Poland.

The companies announced the agreements on August 13. They were formally signed during Intersolar Europe 2026 in Munich in late June.

The solar project comprises three ground-mounted plants in Poland’s West Pomeranian Voivodeship: Sidłowo, with 290 MWp of capacity; Kikowo, with 235 MWp; and Dobrowo, with 197 MWp. Together, the sites will form a 722 MWp complex that GOLDBECK SOLAR has described as Europe’s largest solar farm once completed.

Sungrow said it will supply its 1+X modular inverter solution, together with SG6600UD-MV and SG8800UD-MV medium-voltage systems. The project is designed to connect directly to the 400 kV transmission network of Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne, Poland’s grid operator, through the STR LKO 400/110 kV substation.

GOLDBECK SOLAR was awarded the full engineering, procurement and construction scope for the Sidłowo-Kikowo-Dobrowo project in March. The wider development is part of Virya Renewables Poland, a platform backed by Virya Energy, Optima Wind and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, with a project pipeline exceeding 2 GW.

Alongside the solar supply deal, Sungrow and GOLDBECK SOLAR agreed on a 1 GWh battery energy storage system framework for the German company’s future projects. The agreement does not represent a single commissioned storage facility; rather, it sets a procurement framework under which Sungrow may supply BESS equipment for subsequent projects.

The arrangement expands a relationship established in 2024, when the two companies signed an agreement for Sungrow to supply 400 MW of inverters annually for 2024 and 2025. Sungrow said it had delivered 110 MW of string inverters for GOLDBECK SOLAR projects in Germany, the Netherlands and Poland by September 2024.

The latest agreement reflects the increasing importance of pairing solar generation with grid-scale storage in Poland. As renewable capacity expands, developers are facing a greater need for equipment that can manage output variability, provide flexibility services and support transmission-grid requirements. Storage can shift electricity production across time, though its actual contribution will depend on project design, market rules and grid connections.

For Sungrow, the deal places its inverter and storage products within one of Europe’s largest planned solar complexes, rather than in a stand-alone equipment sale. For GOLDBECK SOLAR, it secures a potential long-term supplier of both PV and storage equipment as it develops utility-scale projects.

The agreement also illustrates how Chinese renewable-energy suppliers are extending their role in Europe. Rather than competing only in modules, cells or individual inverters, companies such as Sungrow are pursuing larger system-level partnerships that combine generation equipment, storage and grid integration. Their competitiveness will increasingly depend on product performance, financing credibility, local service capacity and compliance with European grid and supply-chain requirements.
