The 2026 Global Innovation Show and Global Innovation Summit (GIS 2026) opened at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong on Aug. 25, bringing together technology companies, investors and industry participants for a three-day programme focused on global innovation and overseas expansion.
The event, scheduled from Aug. 25 to 27, lists low-altitude economy among its featured technology areas and includes a China Enterprises Overseas Expansion Summit Forum, according to the organiser and AsiaWorld-Expo. The programme also covers artificial intelligence, embodied robotics, new energy and automotive technology, consumer electronics, advanced manufacturing and biomedicine.
Public event materials reviewed do not identify the Hong Kong gathering as a venue of the 2026 Drone World Congress, nor do they list a standalone “Drone Global Expansion Summit” under that name. The World UAV Federation’s public listing places the 2026 Drone World Congress in Shenzhen from May 21 to 23.
As a result, the claims that the Hong Kong event was China’s only dedicated drone-globalisation summit, that it unveiled 12 export-oriented technologies and eight mass-production products, or that Chinese eVTOL and civil-drone overseas orders approached 1,000 units in 2025–26 could not be independently verified from the available organiser materials.
The same applies to the stated overseas-penetration rate of below 12% and the claim that an integrated products, standards and services model can raise per-project profit by about 50%. Without a named dataset, company universe, order definition, period and profit denominator, those figures are not suitable for publication as industry facts.
The defensible news angle is that Hong Kong hosted a broader innovation and overseas-expansion event that included low-altitude economy among its focus sectors. Any separate report on Chinese drones or eVTOLs going global should be rebuilt around verified company-level events—such as a signed order, regulatory approval, aircraft delivery, local operating authorisation or project launch—rather than unsupported aggregate claims.
