ChangXin Memory Technologies (长鑫科技, CXMT) says it has begun mass-producing LPDDR6 memory, positioning itself as the first supplier to commercialise the new low-power mobile-memory standard.
CXMT said on August 29 that its LPDDR6 chips will debut in Xiaomi’s upcoming Xiaomi 18 Fold, expected in September. The handset will also use Xiaomi’s 3nm XRING O3 processor, which supports LPDDR6. CXMT’s chips offer data rates of up to 12,800 Mbps and capacities of up to 16GB, according to its interim report.
The announcement puts CXMT ahead of established rivals in timing. SK hynix unveiled an LPDDR6 product in March but said customer supply was planned for the second half of 2026, while Samsung has yet to disclose a mass-production schedule.
The milestone gives CXMT a high-profile flagship customer and highlights growing integration among Chinese chip and device makers. But its commercial progress coincides with continued geopolitical pressure: CXMT is challenging a US Department of Defense designation that places it on the “Chinese military company” list.
For China’s semiconductor sector, the Xiaomi launch offers a tangible proof point: domestic memory and application processors are beginning to appear together in premium consumer devices.
