AgiBot（智元机器人）and Minth Group（敏实集团）have started producing humanoid robots and quadruped robot dogs at a plant in Šabac, Serbia, creating what the partners describe as the first robot factory built by a Chinese company in Europe.
The first phase occupies about 3,000 square metres, represents EUR 20 million of investment and is expected to assemble more than 5,000 robots annually while creating around 200 jobs. Serbian officials say the wider project could eventually involve EUR 200 million of investment and reach annual capacity of 20,000 units, including both humanoid robots and robot dogs.
AgiBot provides the robot platform, while Minth brings European manufacturing capacity, supply-chain relationships and local market access. The first units are expected to support Expo 2027 in Belgrade, and the plant will target industrial, logistics and service applications across Europe.
The project signals a broader shift for Chinese robotics companies: moving beyond exports by locating production closer to overseas customers, reducing delivery and service friction while easing exposure to trade barriers.
