Tony Qiu was promoted to COO of DiDi's international business section just about a year ago and reported to Zhu Jingshi, Senior Vice President.
According to LatePost Tony Qiu has resigned and is going through DiDi's resignation procedures. It has been confirmed that he will be taking charge of the international business of TikTok competitor, Kuaishou (Kwai).
Tony joined DiDi back in 2015 and has been responsible for investment and financing, private cars, and internationalization. Several people familiar with the matter said that his departure will not affect DiDi's international progress and Senior VP Zhu Jingshi will take over his work. At present, DiDi is still recruiting talents for international expansion.
Internationalization is an important part of DiDi's future, and it has planned to reach an average of 10 million orders per day within the next three years. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, DiDi's international business has been damaged to quite an extent.
