BYD officially released its all ‘blade battery’ on March 29, 2020, with the device quickly becoming a star product in the industry. The battery uses lithium iron phosphate technology and will first be mounted on BYD’s EV ‘Han.’ Through structural innovation, the blade battery achieves the design goal of installing more batteries in the same space. Compared with traditional battery packs its cruising range can be increased by more than 50%.

In the Ningxiang High-tech Zone, the BYD Ningxiang Power Battery Production Base Project, which is the production base of blade batteries, is in full swing and is said to be speeding up its construction. At present, the construction of the main production plants is almost completed. It is expected that the production line equipment will be installed before October 15 and the first trial production will take place before December 15.

Chinese media Rednet reporter learned that the total planned investment of BYD’s blade battery project is about CNY 10 billion, which will build a strategic base for new energy vehicles in Central China, which will mainly provide power batteries for BYD's NEV’s. After completion, it is estimated that the annual sales income will be about CNY 10 billion and approximately 2,000 new jobs will be created.
