A landmark event opening in Guangzhou today underlines some achievements: China has developed 690 thousand 5G base stations and 160 million 5G terminals. The investment in China's 5G infrastructure is estimated to reach CNY 1.2 trillion by 2025. Meanwhile, the global 5G rollout continues apace.
On November 26, 2020, the 2020 World 5G Convention was inaugurated in Guangzhou with a theme of '5G+ By All for All.' The forum participants come from 60 countries. Held in Beijing for the first time in 2019, the World 5G Convention is the first international event in the 5G field.
According to the Outline Development Plan published by the Central Committee of the CPC and the State Council, China is focusing on promoting the new-generation information technologies and developing new application scenarios such as new-generation communication technologies, 5G and mobile Internet. The data released from the forum shows that, by the end of September 2020, China has constructed over 690,000 5G base stations and over 160 million 5G terminals, which makes 5G available in almost every city in China.
In 2020, China has put 484 5G application scenarios into operation. 5G has been implemented in widespread fields such as smart city, the Internet of Vehicles, the industrial Internet, smart health care and news media.
