On December 9-12, 2020, EqualOcean will host this year's World Innovators Meet (WIM). WIM2020 will take on a bolder stance and adopt a more global outlook by taking the form of an online conference that will be streamed simultaneously in all countries and regions that champion the realm of technology and innovation.
During the World Innovators Meet, the WIM Committee will release the annual blockbuster WIA list, the World Innovation Awards, based on our annual industry and investment research findings, together with a series of research reports.
Jianguo Wei, the former Vice Minister of Commerce of the People's Republic of China (PRC), is currently the Vice President of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), a council member of the 'Belt and Road' International Think Tank Cooperation Committee, the deputy director of the National Manufacturing Power Construction Strategy Advisory Committee, a member of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, and a member of the 11th CPPCC National Committee.
According to Wei, it is necessary to refine the global economic regulation rules in accordance with the concept of joint consultation and construction. He underlines this process of close collaboration as follows: "We need to protect globalization against unilateralism, protectionism and the destruction of international order and international rules. We should work together, otherwise none of the countries can succeed on their own. In doing so, we can develop a joint global regulation, which can facilitate economic development across the world."
Wei stressed that innovation is an important driving force for China's development. Given the changing global context over recent years, we should focus more on the quality of the development than the quantity, which is also an indicator of China's economic development for the next phase. Furthermore, under the impact of COVID-19, a brand-new globalization pattern is irresistible. Compared with the previous form of globalization, post-pandemic globalization is based on different rules and systems, and it concerns more industries apart from investment and economic trade, such as culture, education and tourism.
At WIM2020, Wei will shed new insights on how countries can work together to achieve recovery and further development under the impact of the COVID-19 crisis and the changing global system.
