On December 9-12, EqualOcean was holding the World Innovators Meet (WIM) 2020. This year, the event's main topic was 'Technology and Innovation Connect the World.' WIM2020 gathered innovators from Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas to share their knowledge and key achievements, promoting the concept of 'Tech for Equal.'

"Technological innovation has become indispensable in many areas, which has also created many market opportunities. Data growth increases the demand for computing, storage and networks," so claimed Dexon Li, general manager of Development Office in Intel China Ecosystem and lead speaker for the Leadership Chapter.

During the World Innovators Meet on the 9-12th of December, innovators from all over the world met up online to discuss the key achievements in 2020, marking out how breakthroughs are adding convenience to everyday life. Dexon Li joined WIM2020 and spoke about Intel's adherence to technology and innovation, its contribution to the establishment of industrial ecology and the acceleration of technology and innovation. Moreover, he introduced the WIM2020 audience to the accelerator Intel runs with its Chinese partner, which is a space committed to promoting the continuous development of the innovation ecosystem.

Market opportunities brought by the era of technology and innovation

Compared with the technology and innovation development of the 1980s and 90s, today's world is absolutely different. At that time, many technological breakthroughs and innovations were related only to having a PC and a desktop. After 2000, the mobile Internet set off a new wave of innovation. In the recent decade, the innovation of the intelligent Internet of things (IoT) has led to a new set of trends. Now we can see how emerging fields such as AI, robotics, autonomous driving, precision medicine, intelligent manufacturing, 5G and others are inseparable from technology and innovation.

2020 is a year full of uncertainty, and many people were affected by this condition. However, among all of these uncertainties, we can see that technology and innovation is the most certain thing. Online classes for students, remote office work, vaccine research and development, drug selection – all of these are inseparable from technology and innovation.

The era of technology and innovation development has brought huge market opportunities. Selection, processing and transmission of data have stimulated the demand for computing, storage and network. We can see that the compound annual growth rate of digital data generated worldwide is more than 25%, and the demand for computing is more than 50%. Besides, the demand for computing will not only increase greatly but also bring demand for different forms of computing while processing different data. Therefore, computer architecture that includes CPU, GPU, FTGA needs not only new computing but also growth of storage and network that is a huge market opportunity for innovators in the technology industry.

Concept of Intel's innovation

Since 1968, when the company was established, Intel has been dealing with technology and innovation development for more than half a century, including many investments in R&D investment programs and capital. Continuous investment in technology and innovation is a key factor for success. At the same time, Intel has about 11,0000 employees in 46 countries around the world. They cooperate with Intel's partners in various fields, countries and regions for promoting the development of technology and innovation.

Faced with market opportunities brought about by the era of technology and innovation development, Intel has launched an end-to-end product portfolio, including Cloud and data center product platforms, edge product platforms, and front-end demand side product platforms, including CPU, FPGA, and platforms for graphics and images, and autonomous driving. All of these platforms are end-to-end technology and innovation platforms so that Intel's partners can use it for product development and other kinds of work on these platforms.

Intel's innovation accelerator

In the past few years, Intel has started its cooperation with Chinese partners to build innovative ecosystems based on traditional partner networks and traditional ecology concepts. In 2015, Intel with Chinese partners founded Intel innovation accelerator to respond to the demand of China's entrepreneurs and innovation and technology field development.

So far, Intel has established innovation mechanisms in 8 major cities and 5 national independent innovation demonstration zones. On the platform of Intel's innovation accelerator, Intel has been actively building an industry ecosystem and has launched the Intel AI 100, an innovation-encouraging list in the AI field, and also worked with its partners to build a training platform for the integration of AI industry and education.

Intel and its partners are working together to promote the development of the industry ecosystem in robotics, intelligent future and other fields. In 2018, Intel and its partners built the world’s largest FPGA innovation center in Chongqing, integrating talent training, innovation incubation, demonstration of technology application and industry development acceleration. This innovation center has also become a fertile valley of FPGA innovation.

Intel has always focused on core competitiveness in building industry ecosystem and accelerating technology and innovation and has built industry ecosystem with technology and innovation as the cornerstone. Besides, Intel always adheres to the concept of open cooperation and invites many ecological partners to join the ecological network, hoping to promote innovation in the industry to maximize the value for innovators and the whole industry.
