On May 12, Dingdong Fresh, a famous start-up e-commerce company, announced the completion of a USD 330 million series D + of financing. This round of financing is led by Softbank vision fund, with Gaohu capital continuing to serve as a financial adviser. According to the company, this round of financing funds will be used for new area expansion, supply chain investment and team building. As early as April this year, Dingdong announced the completion of a USD 700 million Series D round of financing, led by DST Global and followed by Tiger Global, General Atlantic, CMC Capital, Sequoia China. ASPEX Management, and 3W Fund. So far, the accumulated financing amount of round D has reached USD 1.03 billion.
In 2014, Dingdong Fresh App was launched. In May 2017, Dingdong transformed into a family shopping business, focusing on the front warehouse fresh e-commerce mode. The company has become a leader in the fresh new retail sector in China. It has nearly 20 categories on the shelves. It is committed to providing users with the service mode of direct purchase from the origin, front warehouse distribution and fast, 29-minute delivery to the home. At present, Dingdong's shopping service has covered 29 cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Hangzhou, with nearly 1000 front positions and more than 900,000 daily orders. By the end of 2020, there were more than 600 direct suppliers of vegetables, and there are more than 5,400 fresh products available, covering vegetables, fruits, aquatic products, meat, poultry and eggs. In terms of logistics and distribution, it has provided fresh food delivery services to more than 20 cities in China, with daily orders of more than 850,000.
At the storage and transportation end, Dingdong has built a mature warehouse network system of base sorting center front warehouse with the front warehouse business mode as the core. Dingdong shopping is gradually matching the warehouse management system WMS, intelligent manufacturing system MES, warehouse control system WCs, automatic production and other intelligent platforms and systems in the sorting centers set up in various cities. The automatic sorting system was introduced in some sorting centers to replace manual sorting, and the operation efficiency was improved by 25%.
