JD's branch company recently invested in a new energy vehicle firm, yet this was not its first step.

Years ago, JD started to plan for its ecosystem expansion in the EV industry. The Chinese e-commerce company has been registering logos, investing in auto-piloting firms and other relative endeavors.
On December 1, 2021, one of JD's branch companies invested in a newly formed Hunan-based EV company, DaoEn, whose main businesses sell new energy vehicles and other traditional vehicles.
This behavior might imply that JD has the ambition to build an e-commerce EV platform in the future.
