Chinese augmented reality (AR) smart eyewear company Rokid announced that it had recently received CNY700 million (USD110 million) in its Series C round of financing from undisclosed investors.
Rokid, a firm headquartered in Hangzhou of eastern China’s Zhejiang province, said the proceeds from will be used mainly for technology R&D, marketing and ecological construction, Sina, a business information portal, reported on March 21.
Sina shows that before the Series C round of financing, Rokid had bagged hundreds of millions of yuan through financing in July 2021, led by Temasek, with participation by Credit Suisse and IDG Capital.
So far, the company has received investment from many top institutions including Temasek, Credit Suisse, IDG Capital, Haitong Security, and Vision Plus Capital.
Established in 2014, Rokid specializes in the research and development of hardware products powered by technologies such as Mixed Reality and Artificial Intelligence, computer interaction, and ecosystem construction based on its YodaOS-XR operating system, according to Rokid’s official website.
Rokid’s competitors include Amazon’s Echo, Google Home, and similar startups in China like NReal and HiAR.
