One of the sources said NIO may build a production facility in the United States.
China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) maker NIO (NIO: Nasdaq) is hiring a number of positions including overseas manufacturing park planning experts, overseas logistics manager, head of government relations, global business legal counsel and some software and hardware engineers in the United States, according to NIO’s official website and recruiting website Glassdoor.
Notably, the position of overseas manufacturing park planning expert requires the candidate to have more than 10 years’ experience in facility planning for OEMs, understand the policies in every US state, and has designed and planned at least one project in the US.
NIO responded that there is no need to comment on the rumor of building a factory in the US. However, an insider said that as NIO expands its talent pool, it is obviously aimed at building its first overseas manufacturing factory.
Based on public information, NIO plans to explore European markets, such as Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark. By the end of 2025, NIO is projected to provide products and services in a total of 25 countries.
In May 2022, NIO debuted on the Singapore Exchange (SGX), making it the first Chinese NEV company to trade shares in the three global financial centers – Hongkong, New York and Singapore.
In the area of global operation, NIO seems to be moving ahead of its competitors, namely, Xpeng (Chinese: 小鹏,XPEV: NYSE) Li Auto (Chinese:理想, LI: Nasdaq), Leapmotor (Chinese:零跑汽车) and Nezha (Chinese: 哪吒)。
