JAKA Robotics finished its Series C and C+ funding round in H1 2021, with a single Series C round of CNY 300 million, a new record for the industry at the time. After the completion of Series D, JAKA Robotics has become the top in terms of the number of funding rounds and financing scale in the collaborative robotics (also called cobots) field.

JAKA Robotics(Chinese:节卡机器人) recently announced that it harvested CNY 1 billion in Series D, jointly led by Temasek(Chinese:淡马锡), True Light(Chinese:淡明), SoftBank Vision Fund 2(Chinese: 软银愿景基金二期), and Prosperity7 Ventures, with participation from strategic investors.

Li Mingyang(Chinese:李明洋), the founder of JAKA, claimed that this funding round was launched to improve the company’s global marketing channels and service networks, as well as to provide more suitable robot products for customers in different regions and different industries.

Unlike large industrial robots, small, flexible and safe cobots can interact and engage directly with humans in unstructured environments, with no need for an independent workspace as large industrial robots do. This also makes them more adaptable and intelligent, suitable for more human-machine collaboration scenarios. In 2021, 15,000 units of collaborative robots were sold in China, with a year-on-year increase of 45.7%.

JAKA Robotics was founded in 2014 and aims at innovation and R&D for the new generation of cobots and smart factories. Its product lines include JAKA Zu series, All-in-one series, C series, MiniCobo series, and JAKA Pro series. JAKA Pro series were rolled out in February this year, with an IP68 rating.

Up to now, JAKA has delivered a large number of cases in handling, palletizing, machining, inspection, and other scenarios. Its products have been applied to buzzer inspection, PCB soldering, dispensing, substrate and SMT processes in the 3C and semiconductor industries, helping companies achieve cost reduction and efficiency.

Other players in the Cobot segment include KUKA(Chinese:库卡), DOBOT(Chinese:越疆科技), ROKAE(Chinese: 珞石), and Hansrobot(Chinese: 大族机器人).
