Shanghai Municipal People’s Government put forward a new implementation plan to further promote the innovative development of the ICV industry, with a focus on the scale production and application of autonomous vehicles and breakthroughs in key technologies.
On September 5, the General Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government issued a new plan–Implementation Plan for Accelerating the Innovation and Development of Intelligent Connected Vehicles (ICVs) in Shanghai (hereafter referred to as the 'Plan'), in an effort to promote the innovative development of the ICV industry and inject new growth momentum into the economy.
According to the Plan, Shanghai will build a nation-leading innovation and development system for intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs) by 2025, and the ICV industrial scale will reach CNY 500 billion. Partial autonomous driving (SAE L2) and conditional autonomous driving (SAE L3) vehicles will account for more than 70% of the new car production, and highly autonomous driving cars (Level 4) can be commercialized in designated areas and scenarios.
The Plan also states that the government will promote the research and development of core technologies and components, especially in key areas such as automotive grade chips, AI algorithms, LiDAR, automotive operating systems, intelligent computing platforms, and drive-by-wire execution systems where a number of key projects will be launched.
Meanwhile, the government will push forward the application of inter-technology solutions, such as 5G automotive wireless communication networks, multi-sensor fusion, high-precision positioning services, and digital twin technology on transportation systems, so as to realize autonomous driving sensing and control through integrating different technologies concerning vehicles, road, internet, cloud computing and mapping.
