Icewhale (Chinese：冰鲸科技) helps users reclaim "data ownership" from organizations such as cloud vendors and manage data-based assets on an individual or household basis.
Icewhale was founded in August 2020, positioning itself as a family-level digital asset management collaborative service provider, with Western geeks and creators as its main service target. It is reported that the company has completed a pre-A round of financing of tens of millions of RMB, led by Seas Capital(Chinese：云时资本), followed by Miracleplus(Chinese：奇绩创坛), with Minerva Capital continuing to act as long-term exclusive financial advisor. Proceeds from this round will be used for supply chain investment, product development and marketing.
The advent of the Internet has led to an explosion of data and information for all users. Prior to this, users essentially stored and used information locally, and when the mobile Internet era saw further growth in the amount of data, cloud computing was born. A significant portion of businesses have outsourced large amounts of data storage and processing to cloud computing providers - but until now, it has been mostly businesses that have used cloud services, with a smaller percentage of individuals using them. Icewhale is targeting the consumer private cloud with its product in the form of Network Attached Storage (NAS), which is used to manage data assets on a personal or household basis.
In 2022, Icewhale has completed the building from hardware to software, as well as the initial construction of the supply chain, and accelerated the speed of market expansion. Icewhale has helped more than 100,000 users in 142 countries around the world to build their personal digital service centers.
As for future development plans, Mr. Pan Xinlei, CEO of Icewhale, said that Icewhale plans to expand its product categories and launch new products for content creators to further expand the base of players and developers. The Icewhale team will also continue to invest in the research and development of CasaOS to provide better software features around family data management in Europe and America.
