Recently, Chengdu Xinjin New Energy Technology (Xinjin), CATL's wholly-owned subsidiary, received the PAS2060 Carbon Neutrality Certification from the globally renowned certification organization SGS. This achievement marks Xinjin as the fourth carbon-neutral factory within CATL, officially joining the ranks of zero-carbon factories.
Xinjin, located in Chengdu, commenced production in July 2021. Since then, Xinjin has been proactively responding to the national "dual carbon" goals by continuously improving and innovating in areas such as energy utilization, transportation and logistics, and manufacturing processes, with a strong focus on reducing carbon emissions.
The extensive and in-depth application of digital technology throughout the factory's carbon reduction process is one of Xinjin' core initiatives. Xinjin has developed the CFMS (Computerized Factory Management System) Smart Factory Management System, which serves as the intelligent brain for its green energy systems. It continuously monitors equipment status in real-time and collaboratively optimizes the overall energy consumption and the status of various sub-devices, ensuring energy security and stability.
In terms of green manufacturing, Xinjin has established a digital production central control management system, enabling global visual management that significantly reduces process losses. Their AI visual inspection system can automatically learn and extract defect features, improving detection rates in various processes such as die-cutting and winding.
At the same time, Xinjin has electrified its logistics chain, extensively employing electric transport vehicles to achieve carbon-free operation from the supply chain to production to end-users. In terms of energy usage, Xinjin exclusively relies on hydroelectric renewable energy, providing clean energy for manufacturing.
As Xinjin upgrades to a "zero-carbon factory," CATL takes a step further towards its zero-carbon strategic goals of achieving core operational carbon neutrality by 2025 and full value chain carbon neutrality by 2035.
